african-centered liberal arts

Runaway Institute (RI) maintains that it is absolutely no understatement to suggest that most so-called white people do not have a vested interest in the intellectual, psychological, and spiritual development of African brothers and sisters seeking knowledge of self (i.e., truth). Additionally, personal interests and/or perceived qualifications notwithstanding, many white people have not earned the privilege of teaching even the most incorrigible African anything. Instead, Europeans need only to teach themselves that they--along with their banal pretenses--have long become unnecessary.

There is something extremely objectionable about the notion of the very same people who fed their darker kin rotten food and even worse ideas (i.e., for centuries), playing any significant role whatsoever in the latter's current nutritional evolution and educational emancipation. Therefore, we are very intentional about the independent design, implementation, and assessment of African-centered curriculum, and extraordinarily selective about the educators and professionals from whom our students learn.

linguistic awareness

Runaway Institute is deeply committed to cultivating language independence within African communities throughout the United States as well as the Diaspora. We are convinced that much of Europe's continued domination of African geopolitical aspirations, is largely dependent upon an effective strategy of divide and conquer. Building on the work of Neely Fuller, Jr. and Dr. Frances Cress Welsing, contemporary research concurs in demonstrating that racism/white supremacy operates against both the individual and collective interests of African humanity in every area of people activity (i.e., economics, education, entertainment, labor, law, politics, religion, sex, and war).

In order to improve the odds of victory, African people must ensure that we actively maintain the generalized ability to effectively communicate with one another. Towards this end, RI's African language curriculum offers courses in Amharic, Arabic, French, Hebrew, Kiswahili, Portuguese, Shona, Spanish, and Wolof; just to name a few. By prioritizing linguistic self-determination, we are arming our people with tangible skills integral to cultural identity, economic competitiveness, and collective security.

vocational specialization

During the sad and gloomy days of chattel slavery, Europeans brutally used African and other First Nations people to forcibly build a white distortion of what is commonly referred to as the so-called modern world. Consequently, in addition to the loss of land, language, culture and identity, people of original descent have a documented history of concomitant violence around work, labor exploitation, discrimination, and wage slavery.

Particularly in the United States, even ostensible progressive politics and the labor movement have routinely sought to limit black entrepreneurial and socioeconomic aspirations in America. However, Runaway Institute is finding ethical ways of matching qualified participants with the vocation and/or trade of their choice. What makes our approach especially unique is that our vocational and employment opportunities are directly connected to the overall nation-building imperatives of The Self-Knowledge Academy!

public advocacy

Runaway Institute assists African people in America by hosting a number of forums, presentations, and panel discussions highlighting important issues ranging from education reform and intentional community, to the status of political prisoners, workforce development, and autonomous political formation (APF). We are actively initiating the types of conversations that need to be had….

Our work in local communities centers around the fundamental principle that the human rights of African people are absolutely not up for debate, intimidation, manipulation, and/or negotiation. Having soundly established our globally autochthonous relationship with the vast firmament of natural rights and universal law, we may proceed to accomplish our goals with a much clearer picture of the objective interplay between traditional policy anachronisms (e.g., externalities) and contemporary community requirements (CCRs).
